Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

David Newey, Recast Founder, served as the Marketing Brand Manager for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts from 2003 – 2005, where he drove marketing, public relations, and brand building for the well-known, national brand.

Duties Included:

  • Developed strategic marketing plans specific to each national territory and implemented tactics designed to increase brand awareness and grow retail, wholesale, and fundraising sales.
  • Led creative teams and managed creative workflow: digital media (Video and photography), interactive, print, and public relations.
  • International business assignments including the launch of Krispy Kreme in Mexico City, Mexico, and execution of a world-wide marketing research project for new international store locations.
  • Built network of contracted public relations firms, from zero to ten firms, in various territories throughout the U.S. and defined, managed, and measured all communications and PR projects.
  • Managed relationships between the franchisees and corporate office, as an internal consultant, focusing on marketing strategy, P&L, legal, property development, and business development.

Following his full-time employment with Krispy Kreme, Recast was contracted by KK for various assignments including the coordination and promotion of the NC School of the Arts Los Angeles Film Screening Event.

Recast Marketing was also contracted by Krispy Kreme to coordinate and implement the co-branded sponsorship with Bullrun — the organization famous for the cross country auto racing event.  Serving up hot doughnuts from Los Angeles to Miami, Recast helped Krispy Kreme conduct fundraising events at each leg to support the organization’s associated charities.
